Now Direct Rail Cargo Between Rijeka & the Czech Republic
The Adriatic Gate Container Terminal said that the first direct freight, container, and train connection from Rijeka to the Czech Republic has been launched, linking the port of Rijeka via the container terminal at Brajdica with the Czech city of Paskov.
Czech Republic is one of the most significant European markets, according to Adriatic Gate CEO Emmanuel Papagiannakis.
“Currently, we have several regular weekly block trains from Rijeka to Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Hungary, from where we are also connected to Slovakia,” said Papagiannakis.
Launched in May of this year, Maersk's train service operates up to twice weekly. The rail service is run by D Cargo Adria, a division of the Czech cargo operator D Cargo, which is also one of the top rail operators on the trans-European network corridor that includes Croatia, Slovakia, Germany, Austria, Poland.. D Cargo is the largest rail transport service provider in the Czech Republic.
Papagiannakis emphasized that Maersk's initiative to start the new service, which would also offer a direct rail connection between Rijeka and the Czech Republic, is appreciated. He also emphasized how the new service demonstrates the Adriatic Gate company's growing significance for the Central and Southeastern European markets.
