CSSC Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding, recognized as the premier builder of newcastlemax vessels globally, has secured an order for two new ammonia-ready bulk carriers.

Led by James Marshall, Berge Bulk has committed to this investment in northeast China, placing an order for two 210,000 deadweight tonnage (dwt) newbuilds, with each vessel priced at approximately $80 million.

This follows a recent report by Splash that another Singapore-based shipowner, Eastern Pacific Shipping, placed an order for four similar vessels at the same shipyard earlier in the week.

Currently, newcastlemax vessels are in high demand, as evidenced by a report from Splash indicating that the month of February set a new record for the highest number of secondhand sales of this ship type.
