Following DHL's recent exit from the competition for one of the biggest takeovers in the international logistics sector, Maersk is now consulting with experts regarding a potential major acquisition.
The Danish financial newspaper Børsen reports that Maersk, the world's number two shipping company, is considering the purchase of DB Schenker, currently on the market by its owner, Deutsche Bahn.
Vincent Clerc, CEO of Maersk, mentioned to the newspaper that the company is adopting a "very cautious approach" towards the acquisition of DB Schenker.
Sydbank analysts have pointed out that another Danish logistics company, DSV, is still seen as the leading contender to acquire the German transportation and logistics company, DB Schenker.
