Job Information Job Description Core Responsibilities: Power Management: Operation and maintenance of main and emergency switchboards, generators, and high-voltage (HV) installations. Navigation & Communication: Upkeep of bridge equipment including Radar, GPS, ECDIS, radio systems (GMDSS), and satellite communications. Automation: Troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), vessel management systems (VMS), and variable frequency drives. Safety Systems: Testing and maintenance of fire detection, fire alarms, and emergency battery backups. Daily Routine: Unlike other engineers, ETOs typically work a day shift and do not keep a standard engine room watch, though they are on call 24/7 for malfunctions.
