Kalypso Compagnia di Navigazione, a liner company based in Genoa, has officially initiated the liquidation process.
The conflict between Israel and Hamas had significant consequences for the Italian container line. A dispute unfolded between Kalypso and Zhonggu Shipping, as the Chinese shipping provider declined permission for its four 2,518 TEU vessels to make stops in Israel. These ships were originally assigned to Kalypso's Marco Polo service, connecting the Mediterranean with Asia.
Kalypso functions as the liner shipping subsidiary of RifLine, an Italian forwarding company. It commenced operations in the Asia-Europe trade during the COVID-19 pandemic.
