On July 25, the general cargo vessel Fu Shun encountered severe weather conditions caused by Typhoon Gaemi. At around 6:30 AM, the vessel issued a distress call reporting that they were sinking.

The ship eventually capsized and sank approximately 19 nautical miles off the coast of Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Nine crew members are currently missing. Unfortunately, the search and rescue operation was delayed due to the rough weather.

Taiwanese authorities also reported that three other vessels - Iriana, Sophia, and Basia - ran aground due to the stormy conditions. Iriana and Basia ran aground in Pingtung, while Sophia ran aground off the coast of Tainan. Fortunately, these incidents did not result in any casualties or oil pollution.
