The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has reported an overflow of approximately five tonnes of bunker fuel during a bunkering operation involving the Bahamas-flagged bulk carrier, Ines Corrado.
The incident occurred off the coast of Changi. According to the MPA, patrol vessels quickly sprayed dispersants, and there is now no visible trace of the oil slick in the area.
Malaysian authorities have been notified to monitor for any potential oil sightings along their coastlines.
The Ines Corrado, a kamsarmax bulk carrier built in 2012, is owned by Monaco-based Gestion Maritime. The identity of the bunker fuel supplier involved in the spill has not been disclosed.
