The Costa Deliziosa recently docked at Rio de Janeiro’s Pier Mauá Cruise Terminal as part of its 2024-2025 world cruise with Costa Cruises.

The 130-night journey, which began in Italy in late 2024, brought the ship to Rio for an overnight stay on December 30, 2024. Over 3,000 passengers and crew disembarked to explore the city, according to Pier Mauá.

Following its departure from the terminal, the Costa Deliziosa anchored off Copacabana Beach to participate in the city’s famous New Year’s Eve fireworks. Alongside five other ships, it offered guests a prime view of the 12-minute celebration.

Prior to its arrival in Rio, the ship visited Recife and Maceió in Brazil. Now continuing its journey across South America, the Deliziosa will make stops at nearly 50 ports before its return to Europe in mid-April.

Highlights of the itinerary include visits to Buenos Aires and Puerto Madryn in Argentina, Montevideo in Uruguay, and Puerto Williams in Chile. After rounding Cape Horn, the voyage will explore Patagonia and the South Pacific, stopping at destinations like Papeete, Suva, Sydney, and Tauranga.

The ship’s route will also take it to the Indian Ocean, with stops in Mauritius and Madagascar at Port Louis and Tamatave. The return journey includes visits to South Africa, Namibia, Cape Verde, the Canary Islands, and several Mediterranean ports before concluding in Trieste, Italy.

Once the world cruise ends, the Costa Deliziosa will begin a summer season in the Adriatic and Aegean seas, followed by another global voyage starting in late 2025.
