Carnival Changes Ship Itineraries Amid Hurricane Milton
Carnival Cruise Line is keeping a close watch on several of its ships that could be affected by Hurricane Milton, according to a statement on its website.
“Our Fleet Operations Center in Miami is actively monitoring Hurricane Milton, which has developed in the Gulf of Mexico,” the company stated.
Carnival stated that nine ships in the region are being “closely watched for potential adjustments” to their routes due to the approaching storm, which is expected to hit Florida later this week.
Among the vessels that could be impacted are the Carnival Paradise, based in Tampa, and the Carnival Sunrise, sailing from Miami. Other ships being monitored include the Carnival Valor and Carnival Liberty, both departing from New Orleans, as well as the Jacksonville-based Carnival Elation and Port Canaveral-based Carnival Glory.
“The safety of our guests and crew is our priority, and our ships will always maintain a safe distance from the storm,” Carnival added.
The Carnival Pride, currently on a seven-night voyage from Baltimore, has already seen a change in its itinerary to avoid the hurricane.
“Forecasts for the storm show it moving in a generally northeasterly direction across Florida and into the Atlantic, possibly impacting conditions in Bermuda later this week,” Carnival explained.
As a result, the cruise line moved the ship’s scheduled three-day visit to Bermuda, originally planned for October 10, ahead by one day.
Additionally, the Carnival Dream, which is on its current sailing, made a slight adjustment to its schedule, ending its upcoming call to Key West one hour earlier due to the storm.
“We will continue to monitor the storm, factoring in guidance from the National Hurricane Center, U.S. Coast Guard, and local port authorities to provide timely updates as more information becomes available,” the company said.
Carnival also advised guests on upcoming sailings from homeports potentially in the storm’s path to keep an eye on their emails for further updates.
