Bulk Carrier Thor Monadic Catches Fire in Turkey

Turkish local news sources reported that a fire broke out on the bulk carrier Thor Monadic early on 27th February in Adana’s Yumurtalık district. The incident occurred while the vessel, carrying plastic raw materials, was docked in the Yumurtalık Free Zone, prompting an immediate emergency response.

Following the alert, firefighting teams were quickly dispatched, with crews from both land and sea working together to control the blaze. Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the fire, and efforts to extinguish it are still in progress.

Thor Monadic, a Singapore-flagged bulk carrier built in 2006, has a carrying capacity of 56,026 tonnes. The ship measures 189.9 meters in length and 32.26 meters in width.
