A fire has broken out on the Ro-Ro ship Ariburnu, while it was en route from Kumkapi to Zonguldak. Upon receiving reports of the incident, Turkey’s General Directorate of Coastal Safety quickly deployed tugboats and a rescue vessel to aid the ship, which was located off the coast of Şile in the Black Sea.

A firefighting and cooling operation was immediately initiated to tackle the blaze on the 595 dwt vessel. The firefighting efforts continued overnight, and on September 25, the Directorate confirmed that the fire had been brought under control, with cooling operations still in progress.

Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in the incident. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Built in 1944, the Ariburnu is a 64-meter Ro-Ro ship flying the Turkish flag. The vessel typically carries vehicles, equipment, and passengers from the Istanbul area to Zonguldak.
